Often people are wondering which essential oil to buy first? Because there are so many useful essential oils and it is hard to make the right choice. Today, we will talk about the top 6 essential oils for beginners.

How to start?

  • First of all, it is to learn how to choose essential oil correctly. There are many artificial oils that are sold on the market today, but this is not what we are looking for. The full instruction with explanation can be found here
  • When you learnt how to do that, buy the essential oil diffuser. It is a very handy tool in aromatherapy, and you won’t regret it.

5 ways of using essential oil

Diffusion.

Add a few drops in a cold aromatic diffuser (be careful, choose a diffuser without heating and avoid diffusers with candles), and turn it on for 10 to 15 min in a room. Do not diffuse the essential oils in the child’s presence and no more than 10 mins in his/her absence.

Skin.

Always dilute the essential oil in vegetable oil because pure essential oil is very concentrated and can be allergenic, photosensitizing (reaction with the sun like citrus fruits), irritating like cinnamon. Although there are exceptions for some oils and you can apply them directly on your skin.

Orally

Dilute the essential oil in vegetable oil or in honey. Taking pure essential oils may burn your mucous membranes. That is why always take precautions.

Inhalation

Put a few drops on a handkerchief and breathe in. Or soak a towel in a bowl of hot water, then add few drops of essential oil on a towel and put it on your head. Relax and breath in for about ten mins or less.
